SmithGroup unveils new renderings for Museum of Science & History in Jacksonville

On September 1, SmithGroup unveiled updated designs for the Museum of Science & History (MOSH) in Jacksonville, Florida, which is moving from Southbank to Northbank. As part of a waterfront redevelopment in the downtown area, 60% of the design plans are finalized, which includes the redesign of Metropolitan Park and the demolition of the Ford Motor Company plant. The new MOSH will span five stories and 125,000 square feet, featuring 10 exhibition areas, a cafe, event space, and flexible spaces. Its exterior will incorporate perforated metal screening and glazing. SmithGroup came on board in late 2024 after the rebidding of contracts. Jacksonville has pledged $50 million towards the total projected cost of $120 million, which is about $93 million. Groundbreaking is expected in early 2027.
