Sky-Frame and Oppenheim Architecture Launch Virtual House in Real-Time Environment

Sky-Frame, a Swiss window producer, has teamed up with Oppenheim Architecture to introduce the Virtual House, a project that exists solely in a digital realm. Unlike standard 3D building models, this virtual home was designed from the beginning to eliminate limitations related to site, structure, budget, or construction logistics. Users can navigate the space, modify materials, and witness the transformation of light throughout the day. The house can be experienced in two distinct environments: a coastal area reminiscent of Florida and an alpine setting in Switzerland. Although the architecture remains consistent, the experience varies with light, climate, vegetation, and sound. The platform highlights Sky-Frame's systems, including Classic, Plain, Original, Pivot Door, Corner Opening, Pocket Door, and Fly. Andrea Zürcher, Sky-Frame's CMO, explained that the goal was to convey openness, continuity, and a seamless indoor-outdoor connection without physical limitations. Beat Huesler, Global Management Partner at Oppenheim Architecture, emphasized that emotion-evoking spaces create atmosphere, with light being the crucial element. Developed with The Boundary, the project employs real-time rendering technology, indicating a shift in architectural representation as video game tools integrate into the design process.
