Skulptur Projekte Münster 2027 announces Hew Locke, Oscar Murillo among participants
The 2027 edition of Skulptur Projekte Münster, the decennial sculpture exhibition in northern Germany, will feature artists Hew Locke, Oscar Murillo, Iza Tarasewicz, Selma Selman, and Róza El-Hassan, among others. Curated by the Zagreb collective What, How & for Whom (WHW)—Ivet Ćurlin, Nataša Ilić, and Sabina Sabolović—the exhibition will expand beyond the city center into transforming neighborhoods, with around 30 locations and projects. Mayor Tilman Fuchs emphasized engagement with urban diversity. Non-central districts include Kinderhaus, a 14th-century settlement that grew in the 1970s, where Tarasewicz will create an installation at Gut Kinderhaus, a former farm now a residential community for disabled people. Murillo will collaborate with local crop producers at a former Nazi barracks used by British forces until 2012, now housing refugees and undergoing redevelopment. Locke's work will be at the Krameramtshaus (built 1589), Selman's at a 19th-century cemetery, and El-Hassan's at the Botanical Garden and a southern residential district. The exhibition runs June 12 to October 3, 2027, funded by North Rhine-Westphalia, the German government, and private sponsors.
