Sixe Paredes Explores Hybrid Creatures in "Bestiario Sintético" at NOKTA Gallery, Madrid
NOKTA Gallery in Madrid presents "Bestiario sintético," a solo exhibition by Barcelona-born artist Sixe Paredes (1975), running until November 11, 2026. Curated under the direction of Sergio García Bayón, the show brings together new tapestries, sculptures, and canvases that construct a universe of hybrid forms hovering between the animal, the human, and the robotic. Paredes's new works investigate the relationship between nature and technology, tradition and ancestral knowledge. Through a complex material research process involving layers, scraps, and stitching, the artist reclaims the fragment as a space where memory, emotion, and the passage of time coexist. His creatures appear to inhabit an intermediate territory between machine and animal, totem and toy. Wear, patches, and wounds are integral to pieces that, far from celebrating technological progress, build a more complex view of the coexistence between the organic and the artificial. The loom thus acquires a dimension beyond technique, becoming a way of connecting traditions, disciplines, and forms of knowledge. In "Bestiario sintético," Paredes gathers diverse materials, temporalities, and references to build a universe in which the human, animal, vegetal, and artificial coexist as part of a single community of the living. The exhibition is on view at NOKTA Gallery, Madrid, through November 11, 2026.
