Six Young Artists Explore Identity Through the Gaze of the Other at Museo Ghergo

The exhibition 'Dialoghi visivi del contemporaneo' at Museo Arturo Ghergo in Montefano, curated by Teresa Marasca, runs until July 12, 2026. It features six young artists—Iulia Jurca, Michele Tobaldi, Stefano Scalella, Filippo Sbrancia, Ado Brandimarte, and Simone Doria—who investigate how identity is formed through relationships and the gaze of others. The show includes photography, painting, sculpture, and installation, with works addressing themes of distance, memory, materiality, and vulnerability. Jurca's 'Tra noi' explores invisible boundaries between people; Tobaldi's 'Retina Emotiva' deforms the gaze through mixed media; Scalella's 'Eco dell'Altro' treats nature as a site of symbolic journey; Sbrancia's 'Senza titolo (Flut)' uses organic materials to reflect on time and decay; Brandimarte's sculptures in plaster, bronze, and gold leaf question manual craft in the digital age; and Doria's 'Pozzanghere nere' transforms temporary puddles into permanent casts. A notable work is Doria's 'Lorenzo chi guarda?', an anonymous 2026 analog photograph that connects Lorenzo Lotto's 1505 portrait with Giulio Paolini's 1967 piece, creating a meditation on family memory and art history.
