Six Riviera Summer Exhibitions Spanning Neel, Fischer, Hantaï, and More

Whitewall magazine highlights six European art exhibitions on the Mediterranean Riviera for summer 2026. At Hauser & Wirth Menorca, "Directionless" curated by Rashid Johnson features 28 artists from over 10 countries, with an outdoor sculpture presentation curated by Cristina Iglesias, running June 21–October 25. The Serralves Museum in Porto presents "Alice Neel: Beautifully Imperfect" with nearly 90 works curated by Inês Grosso, including Neel's only major self-portrait, from July 16, 2026 to January 17, 2027. Gagosian Athens hosts Urs Fischer's "Eugène Atget," a homage to the French photographer through monumental collages of Los Angeles, on view June 9–September 12. Gagosian Gstaad shows Simon Hantaï's "the last studio" series (1982–1985), curated by Anne Baldassari, featuring 16 paintings never exhibited during his lifetime, from July 9–September 27. In Monte Carlo, Hauser & Wirth Monaco collaborates with Paulin, Paulin, Paulin on "Mise-en-scène," an immersive domestic installation with works by Picasso, Bourgeois, Warhol, and others, alongside Pierre Paulin designs, from April 9–August 31. Finally, La Nave Salinas Foundation in Ibiza presents Carlos Jacanamijoy's "Naturaleza Interior," inspired by his Inga heritage, opening July 14–October 30.
