Sirui Saturn V2 Anamorphic Lenses Rotate for Vertical Video at $599

other · 2026-09-09

Sirui has launched the Saturn V2, a fresh series of full-frame anamorphic lenses equipped with a rotating mechanism that permits filmmakers to alternate between horizontal and vertical formats. This 90-degree rotation system preserves the same squeeze ratio and anamorphic aesthetic, producing 2.8:1 video in 16:9 and 2.4:1 in Open Gate 3:2; when rotated, 9:16 video transforms to 0.9:1 and 2:3 to 1.07:1. The initial offerings consist of three cinema prime lenses: 35mm T2.9, 50mm T2.9, and 75mm T2.9, compatible with E, L, and RF mounts. Each lens boasts unified focus and aperture ring placements, 120 degrees of focus throw, and 62mm filter threads. The 35mm lens comprises 18 elements in 13 groups, the 50mm has 17 in 12, and the 75mm includes 15 in 11, all featuring 10-bladed apertures from T2.9 to T16. They are manually focused with a minimum distance of 0.9 meters. Constructed entirely from metal, the lenses range in length from 100.9mm to 112.2mm for L and RF mounts, with E-mount versions being slightly longer, and weigh between 437g and 507g, with E and RF versions being heavier. Sirui claims the Saturn V2 marks a significant advancement in anamorphic lens technology, merging the visual qualities of the Saturn series with a contemporary workflow for filmmakers. These lenses are currently available for $599 each or $1,699 for the set of three. A Nikon Z-mount variant is under development and anticipated for the second production batch.
