Singapore tops Julius Baer luxury index for fourth year

economy-finance · 2026-07-07

For the fourth year in a row, Singapore has been recognized as the priciest city globally for luxury expenditures, as reported by the Lifestyle Index from Swiss wealth manager Julius Baer Group. This index evaluates 25 cities by examining the inflation rates of 20 luxury goods and services, such as residential properties, automobiles, business class airfare, educational fees, and gourmet dining experiences. The top five also includes Zurich, Monaco, Hong Kong, and London. Zurich's advancement by three spots is attributed to the robust Swiss franc, bolstered by the nation’s stability and currency value. Singapore's leading position is driven by soaring property and vehicle prices, along with a strong Singapore dollar. The index assesses prices in US dollars. Christian Gattiker, Julius Baer's research head, remarked that in today's complex world, stable nations become increasingly appealing. The survey gathered insights from 360 high-net-worth individuals possessing at least US$1 million in bankable assets between February and March 2026.
