Silo Designs Wayfinding for Province of Antwerp Headquarters in XDGA's Brutalist Tower

Studio Silo has developed a wayfinding and spatial design system for the Province of Antwerp headquarters, featuring a twisting tower by XDGA atop a glass low-rise base. The building's facade showcases a grid of triangular windows. Inside, the raw aesthetic includes dark concrete, brushed metal, polished flooring, and white walls, serving as a backdrop for Silo's signage program. Above the lift portals, black metal letters read "Bezoekerslift," while white floor numbers like "Oost 1" and "Oost 2" are directly applied to the concrete. The system efficiently maps daily routes for staff, guests, and delivery teams on levels 0 and -1. Silo also created a custom set of fifteen pictograms for directing users to essential areas. Black blade signs extend from perforated metal panels, and frosted glass patterns reflect the tower's design. The installation minimizes drill holes by combining movable signs with fixed posts, allowing spaces to adapt for various events. High-contrast typography ensures easy visibility from afar, with the project exemplifying a subtle integration of signage into the architecture. The complete project can be viewed on Behance.
