Sigma FP2 Arrives November 11 With 6K Open Gate Video and a Tilting Screen

Sigma's FP2, the successor to the 2019 fp, ships on November 11 priced at $2,199 for the body alone or $2,749 bundled with the new EVF-21 viewfinder. The camera keeps the original's brick-like L-Mount form factor and 24-megapixel resolution but swaps in a partially stacked full-frame sensor with faster readout, reducing rolling shutter. Dimensions are roughly 112.8 x 69.9 x 41.8 millimeters at 460 grams with battery and SD card. The fixed rear touchscreen gives way to a 3.15-inch tilting panel of about 2.1 million dots, which exposes cooling vent fins during video recording. Sigma Corporation of America president Mark Amir-Hamzeh framed the release as a response to feedback from vloggers, podcasters, photographers and filmmakers. Video specs include 6K Open Gate at up to 60p, native 4Kp60 at full width, cropped 4Kp120, ProRes RAW HQ and ProRes RAW up to 4Kp48 and 6Kp29.97, and 32-bit float audio with the optional HU-21 Hot Shoe Unit. There is no in-body stabilization and no mechanical shutter. Autofocus uses AI-assisted subject tracking for humans, dogs, cats and birds, with bursts to 20 frames per second and a 180-frame DNG buffer. Native ISO spans 100 to 102,400, expandable to ISO 6 for stills. Storage combines 70GB internal with a UHS-II SD slot, and the new battery is rated for 370 shots or 130 minutes of video.
