Sidell Pakravan Architects: Bay Area Studio Blends Bold Forms with Context

Established in 2014 by Kristen Sidell and Rudabeh Pakravan while pursuing their graduate degrees at the University of Pennsylvania, Sidell Pakravan Architects operates out of Berkeley, California. The design studio focuses on physical models to investigate the interplay between form and site, resulting in striking, sculptural designs throughout Northern California. Their diverse portfolio encompasses private homes, ADUs, public projects, and multi-family units, all highlighting themes of community and connection. Among their significant works is the Seventh Street project, their inaugural ground-up design. They advocate for single-stair reform in California and were finalists in the National Single Stair Competition. Currently, they are working on a private residence in Napa Valley, drawing creative inspiration from art galleries, museums, and travels, particularly from artists like William Kentridge and Walter de Maria.
