Side Angle Side Completes Shed/House in Texas Hill Country

architecture-design · 2026-09-30

Side Angle Side has completed Shed/House, a 1,300-square-foot residence in central Texas, finished in 2023. The house is sited on a hill with a southern view of Texas Hill Country. Approaching via a private road, visitors encounter a blank facade shaped like a shed, a vernacular silhouette that camouflages the house within the agricultural landscape. From this form, the house extends into a linear plan organized by six rectangles that progress from public to private space. A breezeway doubles back on the view and initiates the interior sequence, with each space maintaining a connection to the outdoors. John Redington served as architectural designer, with Side Angle Side as architects of record. Casey Dunn photographed the project. Manufacturers included Fisher & Paykel, DWR, Gerkin, Kohler, Material Bank, RBW, and The Shade Store. J&M Remodeling and Michael Atkinsn were contractors, Duffy Engineering provided structural engineering, and Citizen Build handled steel fabrication. The project is located in the United States.
