Habitat, a live/work campus in Culver City, was crafted by SHoP Architects and Steinberg Hart and developed by Lendlease, emphasizing high-density, transit-oriented design. Located near the La Cienega/Jefferson Metro station, the two buildings showcase gray-green stepped facades and feature a bus stop designed by SOM. The residential area comprises 260 apartments, including 12 affordable and 7 workforce units, spread over 12 stories. Additionally, the commercial section offers 253,000 square feet for creative office spaces. Amenities encompass a media room and complimentary electric bike rentals. While aimed at tech and entertainment professionals, the project encounters obstacles such as low Metro usage and corporate migrations. Previously, the site housed a Public Storage facility and now boasts an acre of landscaped walking trails.
