Shaver Hall Food Hall Opens in Former Lord & Taylor Building

architecture-design · 2026-06-25

On June 26, a new culinary and cultural hub called Shaver Hall will debut within the iconic Lord & Taylor building on Fifth Avenue, Manhattan. This 1914 structure, acquired by Amazon following the department store's closure, now functions as Amazon's corporate headquarters in New York City. The ground level has been reimagined into a public food hall by the boutique consultancy Love & War. Named in honor of Dorothy Shaver, the innovative former president of Lord & Taylor who promoted fashion, design, and the arts, Shaver Hall will host various food concepts, a grand bar, live performances, and TALLOW, a new steakhouse that takes over the space formerly occupied by jeweler Black Starr & Frost. Love & War's design respects the building's historical significance instead of treating it as a blank canvas.
