Shatotto Designs Bangladesh Embassy in Bhutan, Inspired by 1971 Recognition
Shatotto has completed the Chancery Complex and Ambassador's Residence for Bangladesh in Thimphu, Bhutan, a 70,000 ft² public building project led by Prof. Ar. Rafiq Azam. The design celebrates the historic 1971 telegram from King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, making Bhutan the first country to recognize Bangladesh's independence. The architecture merges Bhutanese and Bangladeshi cultural elements as an expression of diplomatic friendship. Key team members include Tohidul Islam, Rebecca Gurung, and interior designers from SHATOTTO Architecture for Green Living. Construction was carried out by Vajra Builders with structural engineering by Progressive Research & Consulting Service.
