Shanghai Qiyuan Experimental Primary School by Atelier Archmixing
Shanghai has seen the introduction of the Qiyuan Experimental Primary School in 2022, marking it as the city's first chess-focused educational establishment. Covering a vast area of 25,080 square meters, this new building is a significant part of the urban renewal in the Suhewan district, replacing an older institution. It is conveniently situated near residential neighborhoods and Xiangdong Middle School, with plans for future expansions to the west and south. The project was spearheaded by architects Zhuang Shen and Zhu Jie from Atelier Archmixing, while structural work was handled by Tongji Architectural Design and construction by China Construction Eighth Engineering Division.
