Shang'Ao Canal Social Services Center by Atelier Liu Yuyang Architects

Atelier Liu Yuyang Architects has completed the Shang'Ao Canal Social Services Center in Shanghai, a 3,865 m² community hub at the intersection of Shang'ao Tang waterfront and Quanzhou Road. The project, finished in 2024, is a key part of the urban renewal of the Shang'ao Tang riverfront area. It houses a senior dining hall, community library, performance space, and dance studio. The renovation focused on facade reconstruction and interior public space reconfiguration to create a distinctive cultural landmark. The design team included Liu Yuyang as principal designer, Wang Chuxue as project leader and site architect, and Wu Congbao, Fan Zhikang, Zhu Chenglin, and Xu Jiarui. The client is the Hongmei Subdistrict Office of Xuhui District. Collaborators include Yi Architecture Studio and FLIP Design Studio. Structural consultant was Shi Wei and Zhang Yaxiong; M&E by Shanghai Sanjiang Mechanical & Electrical Technology Co., Ltd.
