Sergio Toppi retrospective at PAFF! Pordenone explores the master's vertical depths

Over 100 original boards by Milanese comic artist Sergio Toppi (1932–2012) are on display at PAFF! Palazzo del Fumetto in Pordenone until October 4. Curated by Luca Raffaelli, Michel Jans, and Francesco Verni, the exhibition 'Toppi – Le profondità verticali' is organized in three sections. The first room features seventeen plates highlighting Toppi's compositional and narrative innovations. Upper floors present three complete comics, including two in color, alongside his illustration work for Il Messaggero and Corriere della Sera, and a lesser-known series of small sculptures. A large-format immersive projection of a complete story envelops visitors. Special focus is given to Toppi's deep connection with Japanese culture, a constant inspiration throughout his career.
