Serge Férat Exhibition at Galerie Le Minotaure Reveals Russian Artist Who Shook Picasso's Cubism
From September 10 to October 31, the exhibition titled "Au-delà du cubisme, Serge Férat, Léopold Survage, François Angiboult" is open for free at Galerie Le Minotaure and Galerie Berès in Paris. Among the highlights is Serge Férat's 1915 artwork, Arlequin à la guitare, which illustrates his theatrical interests through layered curtains and a prominent Harlequin figure. This piece exemplifies Férat's attempts to revitalize cubism, drawing inspiration from his Russian roots and fellow artists Léopold Survage and François Angiboult. Férat, linked to Guillaume Apollinaire and the Puteaux group, created costumes for Apollinaire's surrealist play in 1917 and engaged in various theatrical collaborations. Brigitte Léal commended the painting for its lively representation of Harlequin, embodying resilience during World War I.
