Šépka Architekti Completes Wardrobe House, a Prefab Timber Home in Prague's Ořechovka District
In Prague's Ořechovka district, Šépka Architekti has finalized the Wardrobe House, a slender wooden dwelling elevated on stilts, intended for a family seeking separate living areas for their children, Ema and Jan. Nestled within a garden surrounded by mature trees, this prefabricated home features a steel base supported by micropiles to safeguard the tree roots. The upper timber section, constructed in just one day, spans three stories and includes a communal kitchen, dining area, and private bedrooms equipped with toilets and showers. Covering 34 square meters, the interiors are crafted from plywood, complemented by a glazed facade that offers views of the trees. Jan Šépka, the studio's founder, emphasized the design's focus on minimal living requirements, with open cabinets enhancing the atmosphere. Photography by Aleš Jungmann.
