Artist Seán Harte has created an oil pastel series documenting every red card received by footballer Roy Keane, culminating in his first solo exhibition 'Sent Off' at Hen's Teeth in Dublin. The project began as a personal joke after Harte heard Keane discuss his red cards on the Stick to Football podcast, where Keane claimed six but was corrected to 13. Harte, a lifelong Keane fan, found humor in revisiting incidents that once felt serious, including the infamous stomp on Gareth Southgate and a tackle on Alfie Haaland. His process involves mining video clips for reference images, followed by intuitive oil pastel work that captures motion and aggression. The exhibition opens September 3, 2026, and Harte hopes it will bridge football and art in Ireland.
