At Heritage Auctions' Video Games Signature Auction held on June 12–13, a sealed copy of Super Mario Bros. fetched an impressive $3 million. This amount breaks the prior record of $2 million, which was achieved in a private sale in 2021. The cartridge, featuring a gloss sticker from early 1986, is recognized as the earliest confirmed sealed version of this classic game. It is one of just three known sealed copies from the second production run, a variant that has never been publicly auctioned before.
