SCP Relocates from Shoreditch to Clerkenwell Townhouse After 40 Years

architecture-design · 2026-09-08

After four decades in Shoreditch, British furniture brand SCP has launched a new showroom in a five-storey townhouse located on Clerkenwell Green, London. Founder Sheridan Coakley realized that Shoreditch was no longer suitable for retail purposes. The bustling furniture showrooms and trade traffic in Clerkenwell made it a perfect fit. Designed by Nice Projects, the interior includes a tobacco-brown entrance, parquet floors, a basement lighting department, and three levels dedicated to furniture. The top floor, known as the Apartment, is set up like a private home. An annex contains offices, a meeting area, and a materials library, featuring a kitchen by Very Simple Kitchen, debuting in the UK during the London Design Festival 2026. The opening aligns with the London Design Festival, highlighting works from Martino Gamper, Källemo, Blue Green Works, and Shore Studios. Coakley has previously supported designers such as Jasper Morrison and Matthew Hilton. SCP's approach includes a Norfolk upholstery factory established in 2003, emphasizing sustainable materials. Coakley shared his cautious optimism regarding the new location.
