Sciscioré: Alpine Design as Play at ADI Design Museum Milan

The exhibition 'Sciscioré' at ADI Design Museum in Milan, curated by Anna Quinz of franzLAB, presents over 110 objects that map contemporary Alpine design from Trentino and South Tyrol without clichés. Running until June 28, the show expands from 24 pieces first shown at Edit Napoli in October 2025. The unifying theme is play—both as a design concept and method. The Ladin word 'sciscioré' refers to a marble game from Val Badia. Objects are divided into ten thematic sections evoking childhood and play, including historical toys, iconic design pieces from the 1960s–80s, and works by emerging designers. Highlights include a Krampus mask by Luca Pojer, a wooden doll by Judith Sotriffer (the last toy artisan in Val Gardena), Gianni Pettena's 'Rumble' sofa (1967), Ettore Sottsass jr's 'Tahiti' lamp, Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni's 'Gatto' lamp (marking Flos's beginnings in Merano with Artur Eisenkel's cocoon material), and Compasso d'Oro winners like the 'Masterlite' ski boot by MM Design for Garmont. The exhibition also references Fortunato Depero's Futurist toys and Martino Gamper's '100 Chairs in 100 Days' as precedents for play-driven design.
