Schemata Architects, led by Jo Nagasaka, has completed the new headquarters for Uchida Shoten, a hardware manufacturer established 160 years ago in Fujisawa, Kanagawa Prefecture. The 351-square-meter project, photographed by Ju Yeon Lee, features design by Moeko Yamaguchi. The site is located in an area that once thrived as Fujisawa-juku, the sixth post station along the Tōkaidō road during the Edo period, characterized by narrow, elongated plots reminiscent of traditional townhouses. The building's design responds to this historical context, with vestiges of the past still visible in the surroundings.
