Sara Ouhaddou's 'Rallumer les étoiles' at Aigues-Mortes

Sara Ouhaddou has created an installation titled 'Rallumer les étoiles' at the Tours et remparts d'Aigues-Mortes, a medieval fortress founded by Saint Louis in the 13th century. The exhibition features glass bead garlands up to 30 meters long, stained glass, and small animal-amulet figures inspired by North African traditions. Ouhaddou collaborated with artisans from France, Morocco, Italy, Japan, and the US. The work reflects the site's history, particularly the women imprisoned there until the 18th century, and explores themes of isolation, confinement, and the cycle of life symbolized by stars. The exhibition is organized by the Centre des monuments nationaux and runs until November 1st.
