Sandra Hüller to Play Wolfgang Herrndorf in Film Adaptation of 'Arbeit und Struktur'

Actress Sandra Hüller, known for her roles in Hollywood alongside Ryan Gosling, will portray the late writer and painter Wolfgang Herrndorf (1965–2013) in a film adaptation of his autobiographical work 'Arbeit und Struktur'. The production companies Komplizen Film, with co-producers Studiocanal, Haut et Court, and ZDF, announced that filming is scheduled to begin in early 2027, with a theatrical release planned for 2028. Maria Schrader will direct, having co-written the screenplay with Jan Schomburg. Herrndorf, author of 'Tschick' and 'Sand', died in 2013 at age 48 after being diagnosed with an incurable brain tumor. His autobiographical work, based on digital diary entries, was published months after his death. The film will focus on his final years, during which he confronted life, work, and impending death with 'incorruptible literary clarity and sarcastic humor', according to producers. They describe it as 'a film about life and death, told by someone who knows exactly how little time remains'.
