Sandra Anselmi's Giant Mushroom Textiles Open Mata Lab's First Show

Mata Lab in São Paulo unveils 'Natureza Tecida – Somos Um Único Fio,' the inaugural solo exhibition of artist Sandra Anselmi, under the curation of Lilian Pacce. This showcase presents large-scale textile sculptures inspired by fungi, utilizing 1.3 tons of yarn that amounts to nearly 40,000 kilometers. The knitted mushrooms, reaching heights of up to four meters, create a setting that mirrors the connections between mycelium and humans. This project, which took six years to develop, builds on research first showcased in 2025 during the 'Portas pra Arte' initiative. The exhibition features five distinct environments, including the 'Floresta de Cogumelos' and 'Sala Terra' for audiovisual displays. Admission is free from June 10 to August 31 at Alameda Rio Claro, 260, São Paulo, with hours Monday–Saturday from 10am to 10pm and Sundays from 12pm to 6pm.
