Sair García's 'El paso suspendido de la cigüeña' opens at La Casita in Bogotá

Colombian artist Sair García (b. 1975, Barrancabermeja) presents his solo exhibition 'El paso suspendido de la cigüeña' at La Casita in Bogotá, curated by Camilo Chico. The show is organized in collaboration with Galería Elvira Moreno, which recently announced exclusive representation of the artist. La Casita, founded in 2015 by Simón and Maritza Chehebar, is a cultural space supporting Colombian contemporary art. García's work spans painting, sculpture, and installation, addressing Colombia's internal conflicts, violence, displacement, and social inequalities. The exhibition's philosophical foundation draws from Theo Angelopoulos's 1993 film of the same name, exploring borders, exile, and human fragility. García holds an MFA from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. In 2001 he won the Philips Prize for Young Talent in Bogotá, later representing Colombia at the Latin American Young Artists Competition in São Paulo, Brazil, where he placed first. His work has been exhibited in the US, China, Cuba, Greece, Russia, Brazil, Mexico, Italy, Germany, France, Belgium, Hungary, Korea, and Singapore.
