Sabrab Transforms Existing Home into Contemporary Residence in Colares Pine Forest

Sabrab has completed Casa Colares Sintra, a 350 m² residential project in Colares, Portugal, scheduled for 2026. The intervention converts a pre-existing dwelling into a contemporary living space oriented toward its garden and the surrounding landscape. The site lies within a pine forest of stone pines, with views over vineyards and the slopes of the Serra de Sintra. Miguel Barbas served as coordinator, with Maria Barbas on the project team. Ivo Tavares Studio produced the photography, and the project specifies products from Vibia and Minotti. The work falls under ArchDaily's residential architecture and houses categories, curated by Susanna Moreira. By retaining and reworking the original structure rather than building anew, the scheme keeps the house embedded in the wooded terrain while opening it to the vineyard prospect below the Sintra hills.
