Ryno's TerraSmart Lattice Rail System Transforms London Rooftop for Thirdway Group

Construction systems manufacturer Ryno has equipped a London rooftop terrace for interior studio Thirdway Group using its TerraSmart Lattice Rail System. The system integrates planting, balustrading, seating, and entertainment spaces without penetrating the roof waterproofing. Ryno's BaseLink, a freestanding connection component, secures balustrades directly to the supporting structure, eliminating the need for separate steelwork. The terrace incorporates ledge and contour planters, which accommodate integrated seating and provide access to rainwater outlets. LED downlighting was integrated into the planters to enhance evening use. A bar area was added late in the design process, with the planter design altered to accommodate it with minimal disruption. Ryno's Linear Track system was integrated into the decking and paving, and an access gate was connected using an integrated fixing baseplate. The completed terrace serves as an outdoor extension of Thirdway's headquarters, providing space for informal meetings, events, and daily employee use. Ryno noted that the system's flexibility allowed design decisions to remain open longer than typical for rooftop projects. The project demonstrates how integrated rooftop systems can reduce coordination challenges between trades, suppliers, and specialist contractors. The terrace reflects Thirdway's commitment to investing in its people and clients.
