RX Architects Extends Druim Home in Sussex with Garden-Immersed Timber Extension

architecture-design · 2026-09-21

RX Architects has finalized the Druim Extension, which enhances a timber-clad residence initially completed in 2020, located within the Rye Nature Reserve in East Sussex. This addition strengthens the link to the private rear garden and the northern views, which were not adequately addressed in the original design. Rob Pollard, the studio director, highlighted the use of the same contractor and materials for consistency. The extension boasts an enlarged dining area with full-height windows and sliding doors leading to a patio adjacent to the kitchen. It also features a spacious window seat and a log burner. The layout was reconfigured to include a new boot room and entrance hall, optimizing views of the sea and nature reserve. RX's portfolio also includes Seabreeze, a coastal home crafted from pale pink concrete.
