Rural Futures | Future Rurals International Symposium Set for Istanbul, October 15–16, 2026
The Istanbul Museum of Painting and Sculpture is set to host an international symposium called Rural Futures | Future Rurals on October 15–16, 2026. This event is a collaboration with the Architectural Research European Network Association's Alter Rurality Project and the Istanbul Technical University Faculty of Architecture. It aims to highlight how rural areas are seen as a 'new common ground' for both human and non-human life, as well as a space that complements urban living. Instead of reflecting on past successes, the symposium will encourage conversations about the future, focusing on rural studies, alternative lifestyles, and design research, all while asking participants, 'What are we seeking?' to inspire fresh ideas about rural existence.
