Rupture Arts & Books Relocates to Venice's Museum District, Opens with Ora Ïto's 'Grammatology, Part 3'

Rupture Arts & Books, established by Alexandre Sap, has moved from Giudecca to Santa Croce, situated in Venice's historic core. This new location is now among ten prominent cultural institutions, including Fondazione Prada, Palazzo Mocenigo, and Museo di Storia Naturale. The expanded space encompasses not only a bookstore but also a publishing house, record label, and podcast studio. Sap’s vision emphasizes books as artistic objects rather than simple products, continuing the ethos from Rupture’s Paris and Marseille branches. The opening exhibition showcases Ora Ïto's 'Grammatology, Part 3,' featuring geometric aluminum and resin pieces inspired by Le Corbusier's Modulor system. Rupture is also initiating a 'Library of Libraries' project, inviting bookstores worldwide to create temporary micro-libraries. The first release under the Venetian label is Francesca Toich's 'Lathe Biosas,' which alludes to the Epicurean idea of 'live unnoticed.' This move aims to foster collaboration with local museums instead of competing with them. Rupture made its initial appearance in Venice in May 2023 during the Architecture Biennale.
