Ruofan Chen Exposes Art World's Toxic Ecologies at Liste Basel

At the Liste Art Fair Basel 2026, the Seoul-based gallery Shower will showcase new pieces by Ruofan Chen at booth 97. A video created by Katie Lee Arsac provides a close-up view of the artworks, highlighting surprising aspects. Following her 2025 solo exhibition Dust at Shower, which explored the unseen connections between industrial sites and equestrian arenas by examining particulate matter as evidence of systemic issues, Chen now focuses on the concealed ecologies within the art sector. This new collection investigates the often-ignored exposure of all art professionals—installers, technicians, artists, fabricators, and gallery personnel—to harmful production toxins, including silica dust, pigment remnants, and the widespread chemical fog from adhesives and fire retardants. The event will occur in Basel, Switzerland, on June 17, 2026.
