Ruo-Hsin Wu's Faceless Figures Float Through Darkness in Seoul and Singapore Shows
Ruo-Hsin Wu, a painter from Taiwan, produces acrylic artworks that showcase glowing, pale figures set against deep black backgrounds. These pieces are marked by rich blacks and gentle transitions from bone-white to shadow-grey. The figures, resembling child-like, genderless forms, appear to be adapted to an underwater environment, often accompanied by small creatures such as black cats and fish, emphasizing a sense of chosen solitude. Wu views darkness as thick and pressurized, with her figures creating their own light. She will be featured in the exhibition "Lotta × Noritoshi Mitsuuchi × Ruo-Hsin Wu" at Eligere Gallery in Seoul from November 7, 2025, to January 16, 2026, and will also take part in Art SG 2026 with Kaikai Kiki Gallery, Tokyo, from January 23–26, 2026. Recent pieces include "Vase" (2025) and "Heart" (2025).
