Rudy Milstein's New Play Explores Genetic Testing and Motherhood

Rudy Milstein, who won two Molière awards in 2024 for 'C’est pas facile d’être heureux quand on va mal', has a new comedy about motherhood, the desire for children, and the neuroses of trying to control everything. The play, featuring five characters, is performed and directed with brilliance and is expected to be a success, blending laughter with drama. The plot echoes dystopian themes from films like 'Gattaca' and 'Black Mirror', and Aldous Huxley's 'Brave New World'. It follows Marie, who after years of trying to conceive, gives birth, but a revolutionary genetic test reveals her baby's health risks. In a panic, she secretly swaps her baby with that of her best friend Anne, who has just had her third child by accident. The comedy then explores the monstrous selfishness of Marie, who hides the truth from her partner while criticizing Anne as a bad mother. It also touches on open relationships and the hypocrisy of social veneer. The cast includes Ariane Mourier, Nicolas Lumbreras, Anne Marivin, Erwan Téréné, and Maeva Pinto Lopes.
