Rosé, the Blackpink member and solo artist, has released a new single titled 'New Trick,' accompanied by a music video directed by Dave Meyers and filmed entirely on the iPhone 18 Pro for Apple's 'Shot on iPhone' campaign. The video marks a departure from her previous work, as the song was written just two days after the Met Gala in New York, during a hectic week. Rosé collaborated with frequent songwriting partner Amy Allen, noting that she had been unable to write sad songs recently, a shift from her previous album 'Rosie.' Instead, they crafted an upbeat track that Rosé describes as possibly the cutest thing they've made together, though she playfully leaves fans to judge if it surpasses 'Apt.' The song's pop-rock sound was inspired by Apple ads from the 2000s, such as Jet's 'Are You Gonna Be My Girl' and CSS's 'Music Is My Hot Hot Sex.' The 'Shot on iPhone' campaign has previously featured artists like Olivia Rodrigo, Lady Gaga, and The Weeknd. 'New Trick' will be released in full on September 17, while Rosé's sophomore album, currently untitled, is expected in 2027. Rosé expressed excitement about evolving as an artist and introducing a new era of music next year.
