Rose Easton's 'Lumps and Bumps' Show in London Reinterprets Comme des Garçons' 1997 Collection
The exhibition titled 'Lumps and Bumps' is currently on display at Rose Easton in east London and will be available until 12 December 2026. It pays tribute to Rei Kawakubo's 1997 Comme des Garçons collection 'Body Meets Dress, Dress Meets Body', which redefined femininity through its innovative use of padding. Curated by Rose Easton, the show includes works by Dogperson39, Sarah Benslimane, Sylvie Fleury, Charlotte Kingsnorth, and Caitlin MacQueen, each examining themes of disruption with varied materials. Fleury's pieces challenge conventional anatomy, while Kingsnorth's stool merges body and form. Easton reflects on the blurred lines between self and other, influenced by her experiences as a new mother and societal views on pregnant bodies.
