Rosana Palazyan Transplants Her Childhood Mango Tree to Anita Schwartz Gallery in Rio
On October 28, 2026, at 19h, Rosana Palazyan's exhibition, Quintal, will debut at Anita Schwartz Galeria de Arte in Gávea, Rio de Janeiro, and will be open until November 26, 2026, with no admission fee. Curated by Ulisses Carrilho, this showcase encapsulates six years of artistic endeavors alongside a period of retreat during the pandemic. In 2020, Palazyan returned to her childhood residence in Abolição to assist her 95-year-old mother, Rebeca. The installation features a recreated mango tree from her yard, along with pieces like Botões/sonhos, which incorporates antique buttons, Visitantes da mangueira, crafted with a family sewing machine, and Sementes/ensinamentos, showcasing mango pits in organza. The exhibition also addresses themes related to the Armenian genocide and the 2023 Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, as Palazyan, 60, delves into the concepts of aging and desire.
