ROOMOOR Designs Monastic Country House Beside Jain Temple Near Surat
A private residence of 275 m² by ROOMOOR is slated for completion in 2026 in Baleshwar, near Surat, India. The project traces to around 2005, when a devout family donated roadside land for a Jain temple and its supporting structures — dharamshalas for lodging, a bhojanshala serving as community kitchen and dining hall, and a vyakhyan kendra for spiritual discourse. In gratitude, the presiding head monk promised the family a small private plot within the compound. Two decades later, the family chose to build a house there. Dhruv Gusain and Mahendra Gusain serve as principal architects, with Aishvarya Dubey as landscape architect. The design team comprises Dhaval Modi, Mayank Rangani and Pratik Pachchigar; Ritesh Patel is structural consultant and Niraj Vekaria the civil contractor. Stonework is handled by Mukund Mekhiya, electrical work by Tanvir Alam, plumbing by Shahnawaz, carpentry by Bajrangbhai and Janakbhai, and landscaping contracting by Ramsevak. Jainee Gusain photographed the project, curated by Miwa Negoro and filed under the houses category.
