Ronit Keret's 'Topography of Collapse' at HAA Gallery, Helsinki

Israeli artist Ronit Keret's solo exhibition 'Topography of Collapse' is on view at HAA Gallery in Helsinki, curated by Vera Pilpoul. The show explores the intersection of art and the Anthropocene, focusing on glacial melt as a consequence of global warming. Keret's practice is informed by her personal observation of the retreat of the Perito Moreno glacier in Patagonia, which she witnessed over two decades ago. The exhibition features sculptures, installations, site-specific works, and videos that employ polystyrene—a non-decomposable industrial material—as a metaphor for glacial morphology and fragility. Notable works include the video 'Tears' (2017), depicting a horse in a glacial landscape, and the site-specific installation 'Silence' (2026), comprising light-boxes with images of her previous works connected by a red cable. The exhibition also includes the video 'Melting' (2025), originally filmed at the Château de Napoule in France, which visualizes flooding and the disappearance of human life. Keret has previously shown in Italy, including at 'A Journey of Peace' in Turin (2025), 'Landscape of Israel' (2021), and Arte in Nuvola in Rome, as well as the European Cultural Center's Palazzo Mora during the 59th Venice Biennale (2022). The exhibition extends her reflection on sustainability and progress, suggesting a new ethical and aesthetic sensibility.
