Rome's Giufà Bookshop Expands After 21 Years in San Lorenzo

Giufà, an independent bookstore that has served as a cultural center in Rome's San Lorenzo district since 2005, is set to expand by opening a new venue at Via degli Aurunci 34 and 36, anticipated to launch between late September and early October 2026. Established by Francesco Mecozzi, Susanna Campana, and Flavia Giannoni, this cooperative bookshop has become a key destination for readers, authors, and publishers, celebrated for its carefully curated collection of graphic novels, comics, illustrated works, and contemporary fiction, particularly from small and medium-sized publishers. The new location will feature sections dedicated to comics, graphics, and design, alongside activities for children aged 0-6, and an outdoor space for summer events. Giufà has partnered with various festivals and institutions, including Scienza Pop, ARF Festival, and Lucca Comics & Games, to provide bookshop services and host events, highlighting the vibrant cultural scene of San Lorenzo, which continues to flourish with galleries and independent spaces.
