Rolex Unveils Perpetual Padellone, Reviving the 1950s Reference 8171

other · 2026-09-16

Rolex has introduced the Perpetual Padellone, a modern take on the rare reference 8171 triple calendar with moon phase from the late 1940s and early 1950s. Known as the "Padellone," the original 8171 has gained popularity at auctions. The new version, revealed in Milan, boasts a 39 mm case, a fluted bezel, and four correctors. It utilizes the annual calendar caliber 7190, which was launched in 2025, operating at 5Hz and offering a 66-hour power reserve. The moon phase feature incorporates a meteorite disk. There are three available references: two in Everose and one in platinum, priced at $59,000, $72,000, and $66,200. Notably, the Padellone is classified as an annual calendar, not a perpetual calendar.
