Roger-Viollet Gallery Presents 'Paris, ouvert la nuit' from June 11

The exhibition "Paris, ouvert la nuit" is set to run at Galerie Roger-Viollet in Paris from June 11 to October 3, 2026. It explores the city's nightlife through a stunning collection of 70 photographs, mostly in black-and-white, taken between 1900 and 1970. These images come from various archives, including Ville de Paris and works by renowned photographers like Jean-Pierre Couderc and Brassaï. The display features 30 limited edition modern prints, coinciding with the summer solstice and celebrating Paris as the 'Ville lumière', referencing its first public lighting in 1665 and early electric light experiments in 1844. Paul Morand’s quote from his 1933 preface to Brassaï’s work beautifully sums it up: “La nuit n'est pas le négatif du jour.”
