Roee Idah Blends Vintage Photographs with Cosmic Landscapes in Digital Collages

Roee Idah's digital collages feature figures extracted from vintage photographs set against vast planetary backdrops, merging archival attire and photographic textures with celestial skies that evoke a realm beyond our own. The juxtaposition of personal human experiences with the grandeur of the universe shapes the essence of his art: a lone figure often stands in the foreground while a massive celestial entity dominates the skyline. Idah meticulously arranges these elements, ensuring that the surreal feels seamless, eliminating any visible seams to forge a cohesive space where historical images and fantastical realms coexist. The final pieces hover between nostalgia and an otherworldly dream, with recognizable landscapes leading to unplaceable skies. The figures add a sense of intimacy, transforming the cosmic display into a quieter experience that invites viewers to envision themselves within it, despite the illogical geography. Idah showcases his creations on Instagram under the handle roeizm, where the series is regularly updated.
