Robert Doisneau Retrospective Opens at La Sucrière in Lyon for Photography Bicentennial
La Sucrière in Lyon hosts a major Robert Doisneau retrospective marking the Bicentennial of Photography, running until 28 February 2027. The exhibition presents roughly 350 prints spanning the photographer's entire output, from the early 1930s through the end of his career, and combines his best-known images with numerous previously unseen photographs. Following strong attendance in Paris, the Lyon presentation forms a new major leg of the exhibition's international tour and adds a selection of never-before-shown Lyon photographs. Among these are Doisneau's images of Lyon card players and other urban compositions long familiar from postcard racks in Vieux Lyon. The Lyon shots were taken by Doisneau in 1950 on commission from Vogue magazine. The show occupies the second floor of the building, reached via the 1930 entrance at the level of the left silo. La Sucrière is located at 49-50 Quai Rambaud, Lyon. Standard admission is 16.90 euros on weekdays and 17.90 euros on weekends, public holidays and school holidays; youth tickets cost 12.90 or 13.90 euros, and entry is free for children under six. Opening hours are Tuesday to Sunday, 10am to 6pm; the venue is closed on Mondays except public holidays and school holidays, when it opens 10am to 6pm. Last entry is at 4.30pm.
