RLWW Studio Transforms Alfa Romeo's Quadrifoglio into Caffè Fortuna in Taipei

architecture-design · 2026-09-29

Caffè Fortuna, a café located in Dazhi, Taipei, has been crafted by RLWW Studio, inspired by the Quadrifoglio emblem of Alfa Romeo. The design transforms the four-leaf clover into geometric shapes and beveled edges, which are featured on door handles, custom woodwork, and patterned tiles. A blend of deep green and rich wood tones, alongside stone and iron accents, pays homage to mid-century Milanese Modernism. The café's exterior showcases dark wood cladding that seamlessly incorporates existing window frames with operable panels. Six geometric openings allow natural light to filter in while obscuring street views. The design also reflects volumes from the interior walls on the facade, creating dynamic recesses and projections. The corner traffic signal is integrated into the café's overall aesthetic. This project was submitted through designboom's DIY feature and edited by Christina Vergopoulou, with contributions from Ray Liang and Gary Tsai, and photography by WGH Photo.
