Ripple's RLUSD Stablecoin Targets $13 Trillion Corporate Treasury Market

economy-finance · 2026-05-09

Ripple aims to establish its RLUSD stablecoin as a key settlement layer for corporate treasury functions, focusing on a network that handles $13 trillion in annual transactions. Jack McDonald, the senior vice president of stablecoins at Ripple, highlighted this potential, which is associated with Ripple Treasury, formed following the $1 billion acquisition of GTreasury in 2025. As of September 3, 2026, RLUSD has around $2.4 billion in circulation, still modest compared to Tether's USDT and Circle's USDC. This year, daily transactions of RLUSD have surged to $750 million. Additionally, Ripple is introducing RLUSD in Europe under a dual-issuance model that adheres to the EU's MiCA regulations, having secured a full Electronic Money Institution license from Luxembourg in February.
