Rik Frans Jansen's PLATFORM Bed Fuses Construction Materials with Domestic Design at Paris Design Week 2026

architecture-design · 2026-09-25

At Paris Design Week 2026, architect Rik Frans Jansen from Amsterdam introduced PLATFORM, an innovative bed that transforms furniture construction techniques. This piece, highlighted in GOOD SELECTION and curated by Lucas Zito, has dimensions of 250 × 220 × 50 cm and features an aluminum structure with stainless-steel panels. Its design reveals joints and bolts, complemented by a low headboard equipped with power outlets. The bed is adorned with 600-thread-count sateen in Ashen Stone and Concrete Blue, provided by Berlin's Brut Studios, creating a striking contrast with the metallic frame. PLATFORM is now available for purchase, demonstrating how building materials can elevate home aesthetics. The project was featured in designboom's DIY section, edited by Christina Vergopoulou, with photography by Nam Seung Rok and Rik Frans Jansen, and design by Salah Chahin.
